o4. And it's Music Monday:

Pogo - Lost (The only lyrics in this are taken directly from Disney's Alice in Wonderland which makes this song totally trippy and AWESOME! It's addicting. 'I'm very fond of tea!')
We Were Promised Jetpacks - Conductor (I just downloaded the album by this Scottish band and I adore it. This might be my favorite track.)
Grafton Primary - I Can Cook (THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!)
Florence + The Machine - Postcards From Italy (Beirut cover) (I love the original and this is gorgeous!)
She & Him - Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (The Smiths cover) (This is from the 500 Day Of Summer sdtrk. I can't wait to see the movie!)
Oh, Atoms - Brooklyn Cheesecake (I got this album awhile ago but I completely forgot to rec anything from it. I really love this track!)

o1. Ah! I am behind on everything involving the internet again! Balls! I definitely need to catch up on my flist.

It's been a weird few days. I'm not even working this week (which kind of sucks) and yet I've been BUSYBUSYBUSY!
Some of the stuff I've been up to consist of glitter, too much wine, rainbows, discovering my 100+ year old childhood home has literally vanished, alice in wonderland, illegal substances, michael jackson dance parties, cupcakes, and lots of other stuff...

But I'm going to talk about all of that in an entry tomorrow or something. Right now I need to finally post my True Blood Eric picspam this week before I forget!

o2.
True Blood - 2.03 - ERIC CENTRIC PICSPAM )

o3. I have also finished book 5 and book 6 of the novels. I'm currently on chapter 15 of book 7.

Thoughts on Sookie Stackhouse short stories, books 5 + 6 and book 7 up to chapter 15 )

o4. All the gifs in this entry are actually the first ones I've ever made (+ I was a bit tipsy while making them) so please excuse the slight crappyness. I'll get better when I've had more practice.

Last night I was watching the first 4 eps of True Blood with Janine (who had never seen the show before but now LOVES it). After she left I decided to make some gifs from episode 4:

Some more gifs )

o1. Ah! I have been horrible at LJ this past week! I apologize. My excuse is that I worked a bit longer hours (which is good for money) and....ok TBH, it's 97% this guy's fault:

Gosh, he glamored the fuck out of me and it still hasn't worn off yet! Smug bastard.

o2. Other than ~flailing~ over Eric I did actually go to the movies (yes, the actual movie theater) twice this past weekend. This is almost unheard of for me. I'm a huge film buff and I see tons of movies, but I'm also a cheap bastard.

On Saturday, Chiya and I went to see Away We Go for my bb, John Krasinski. And, wow! I really loved it. There was a scene at the end that had me in tears. And I don't mean 1 single tear that I can pretend never happened...I mean that I was so moved I actually full out cried.

On Sunday, I went to go see The Hangover with my parents because that's what my dad wanted to do for Father's Day (haha, my dad can be kind of awesome). It was beyond hilarious, I died laughing repeatedly. And mmmm Bradley Cooper! Does anyone find it amusing that BC is playing all assholes now? Wiiillll!
My brother didn't come with us to the movie because he went to a concert with his girlfriend. On Sunday morning I got up early to make my dad breakfast, I went to he movies with him because that's what he wanted to do, and then we had a nice dinner. My brother wasn't there for any of it which was kind of douchey IMO. I tried to coordinate something with him but he never bothered to call me back. My dad was lucky to get a "Happy Father's Day" from him. I mentioned what we did to my brother yesterday and he was like, "geez Laura, way to make me feel bad" and I didn't say anything. But I thought, "Well, YOU SHOULD!" :/

o3. Going back to my lover (barf, I hate that phrase now) Eric, I'm now reading the 5th Sookie Stackhouse book. I started the first one only a week ago! In the past week I also got completely caught up on True Blood, so between the books and the show the Southern Vampires kind of ate all of my free time! You know how it is getting into a new fandom and all...

The books are so shitty, but in a fun/addicting way(I did read 4 of them in only 6 days, ha). Sookie annoys me sometimes but I don't want to smack her constantly like other people (BELLA!). The bad writing quality does grain on me, but it's still better than Twilight thankfully. These are the reasons why:

1. Eric
2. SEX
3. Eric!
4. Sometimes you can laugh with it and not at it (although I do also laugh at it a lot)
5. ~ERIC!!~

I came across a blog the other day that pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly on the series. I can't remember precisely what was said but it was something about how perplexing it is that such a crappy series can contain such an incredibly awesome character. Seriously, the only vampire I like more than Eric is Spike. Or possibly Count Von Count from Sesame Street. He's really the HBIC of the Vampire world you know! (Count Chocula would be his 2nd in command a la Pam)

So, basically I have mad love for this BAMF character. And because of that...I had to picspam him (and don't expect this to be the last time I'll do this either!)

True Blood - 2.02 - Keep This Party Going - ERIC CENTRIC PICSPAM )

o4. Sookie Stackhouse Books thoughts/mini-reviews )

o5. Since I didn't post on Monday I think I'm going to skip Music Monday this week. BUT since I can't let a week go by without uploading music I'll still give you 3 great songs:
Yacht - Psychic City (This is such a fun song that many a blogger have already called, 'the song of the summer'. That personally feels like a bit of over-hype to me but I still enjoy it)
Alexi Murdoch - Blue Mind (This is from the amazing sdtrk to 'Away We Go'. I'm in love with every song on it.)
Tiny Vipers - Dreamer (The singer's voice here is so haunting and gorgeous. The song makes you ache. I can't stop listening to it.)

o6. MEME:

Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

I hope this doesn't get lost in the epic nature of this entry! ha

2 weeks ago I had never seen one single episode/film of any version of Star Trek. Ever. The only thing I knew about it was that it involved characters named Kirk and Spock who were apparently similar to the ambiguously gay duo. And someone named Scotty beamed people up.
Oh! I also knew that LaVar Burton from Reading Rainbow was in TNG and played a guy who sported swanky 3D glasses (because he was possibly blind?)

2 weeks ago I lost my Star Trek virginity. This started with my watching the top 10 eps of TOS (top 10 according to various Trekkies all over the interwebs) and possibly 2 of the original films.
...Somehow that ended up turning into me watching approximately 30 episodes of TOS and ALL 6 ORIGINAL FILMS. TV is on summer hiatus so there's nothing else on! And I haven't been going out a ton after work due to my current lack of finances. That is my defense.

BUT DO YOU GUYS EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH INFORMATION THAT IS?! ALL WITHIN A 2 WEEK SPAN?! MY BRAIN IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!
It is kind of like Alan Tudyk in the season finale of Dollhouse. Or in the s1 finale of Doctor Who when Rose was GLOWING.

IT IS TOO MUCH!
It made seeing the new film kind of a strange experience. I basically experienced it like I was a Trekkie. BECAUSE I REMEMBER EVERYTHING! I remember everything like it was yesterday. Because it literally was. lol.
Of course, this will not last. I am not really a Trekkie (despite what this entry may suggest). Next month if you ask me about something ST related I'll probably just be like, "umm...I think Sylar has pointy ears? Or something?"

SO THIS ENTRY IS MY NERD EXPLOSION! BE PREPARED! THIS ENDS IN A HUGE NERD EJACULATION!

STAR TREK XI EPIC REVIEW - geeky thoughts, picspam, and WAAAAAY too many gifs! )

Overall, I am SO glad that I acquired so much Trek knowledge. Because it was kind of necessary. I'm especially glad I watched the movies (almost more-so than the show)!
I know JJ Abrams and everyone likes to pretend that you didn't need to know anything. But they're all LYING. Watching a bit of the show (and the movies) is SO SO SO IMPORTANT. I can not stress that enough.

o1.

OMG THE NEIL/JOSH BROMANCE IS AMAZING!

And I love what Neil says about Robin too.
"Yea, you know she likes it dirty". That's the first thing Barney ever said about Robin. Actually, that was the first thing that was ever said about Robin on the show period. And that's what it all comes down to.

I also want to ship Barney/Blanche. Just sayin'.

o2. I am sad that I will only do 1 more B/R picspam after this until September. :(

HIMYM - 4.23 - As Fast As She Can - Barney/Robin moments PICSPAM )

HIMYM season finale (non spoilery) polls )

o3. Um...and I'm doing Music Monday late again. woops!

Ingrid Michaelson - Turn To Stone (featured on last week's Grey's Anatomy)
Regina Spektor - Laughing With (first track released from her upcoming album. I don't know if I like it. It kind of sounds like it belongs on Greys too though, ha!)
La Roux - Bulletproof (this song is just a ridiculous amount of fun!)
Katie Herzig - Hey NaNa (this is adorable/catchy)
God Help The Girl - Monday Night (this is a Belle & Sebastian spin-off with female vocals. I absolutely love it!)

Woah, chick overload this week!

o1. I meant to post this entry last night but then all of a sudden it was 2am and I wasn't done yet so I figured I should go to sleep if I ever wanted to get up in the morning. One day I'll actually post Music Monday on a Monday. I swear, it'll happen! :p

o2. INSANELY ELABORATE HIMYM picspams + thoughts on the last 2 episodes, about 75% Barney/Robin centric )

o3. Gossip Girl - 2.23 - The Wrath Of Con )

o4. And here's your (belated) MUSIC MONDAY songs:
Passion Pit - Make Light [This song is SO much fun to dance around to!]
Jeremy Warmsley - If He Breaks Your Heart (acoustic version) [I found him on LastFM. This song is really beautiful and I can't stop listening to it.]
Florence and the Machine - Kiss With A Fist [So catchy! I can't wait for her album to leak!]
Annie - Anthonio (Fred Falke remix) [I posted a Designer Drugs remix of this song before but this one is more ~relaxing~ than dancey like the other. I actually like it much more.]
Emmy The Great - First Love [This entire album is so wonderful. The title track is one of my favorite songs on it.]
Oliver The Penguin - Do I Leave My Heart Here? [What an adorable artist name! I think that's part of why I dled it in the first place. I've been playing this song constantly over the last few days.]
The Maccabees - No Kind Words
Simon & Garfunkel - Cecilia [FOR MARSHALL AND HIS WONDERFUL VAN DIAGRAM<3]

01. On Friday night Endira invited me to go to a concert she had to organize for work being held at the Met. She works for the Lighthouse Foundation who mostly specialize in things relating to music and blind people...or something?
The whole thing was rather extravagant and really gorgeous. There were hundreds of people there who seemed really ~fancy~ and important and her boss even gave her a shout out in her speech at the end for putting everything together. I felt super proud.

The concert was actually held at the Temple Of Dendur. This amused me greatly because the only thing I can really think of while I'm there is not how pretty it is...it's pecan pie. Thanks, Billy Crystal. [They filmed of a scene of When Harry Met Sally there.]

Mini picspam of 'When Harry Met Sally' Temple Of Dendur scene so you guys can see where I was! )

02. Last week on House something happened that actually made me happy (shocker! This season has been rather lame.)
House MD - 5.21 - Saviors )

03. Since today was one of those ~lazy~ Sundays I decided to catch up on the last 3 episodes of the Rob Thomas/Paul Rudd joint, 'Party Down'. And I am still enjoying this show a ton!
